Hostel Raymundo
Family-friendly old-town hostel on Rua do Raimundo with shared kitchen, indoor play area, sun terrace and free breakfast package — four minutes from Praça do Giraldo.
Hostel Raymundo sits on Rua do Raimundo (also spelled Rua do Raymundo), the residential lane that runs southwest from Praça do Giraldo to the city walls. Four minutes' walk to Giraldo, six to the Sé cathedral. The property runs about 20 beds across mixed dorms, twins and family rooms — and is the most family-oriented hostel in central Évora, with an indoor play area and a games room that the other hostels don't bother with. Shared kitchen, sun terrace, and a free breakfast package included on every rate (a paper bag with bread, juice, jam — practical rather than scenic, but it's there).
Hostel Raymundo occupies a converted townhouse on Rua do Raimundo (signage uses both "Raimundo" and "Raymundo" — same address). The lane runs from Praça do Giraldo southwest to the city walls and is residential — three or four cafés, the rest is local apartments — so it stays quiet at night while keeping you four minutes' walk from the central square.
The property is small, around 20 beds split across 4-bed mixed dorms, twin private rooms, and 4-bed family rooms — the family rooms are the standout, since most central Évora hostels skip them. Every room has parquet floors, AC, work desks and small balconies onto the lane or the back patio. Bathrooms are shared in clusters on each floor — towels are an extra €2 if you didn't bring your own.
The ground floor is built around the family-friendly angle: a games room with table games and a small indoor play area for younger kids, a shared kitchen, and a back garden with a sun terrace and outdoor seating. The free breakfast package is a paper bag (bread, juice, jam, sometimes fruit) handed out at reception each morning — not a sit-down breakfast, but a useful add-on for early-departure travellers.
Reception is staffed 09:00–22:00 — late check-ins by message. The trade-offs versus the other Évora hostels: less central than Burgos (4 min vs 1 min to Giraldo), no rooftop, and the mid-range pricing (€24 a bed) sits between budget HI Évora (€18) and the higher-end Heaven Inn (€28). Best for families and small groups looking for an old-town stay with kid-friendly setup.
