Leuven City Hostel sits on Ravenstraat, a quiet pedestrian street in the centre of Leuven, 4 minutes from Grote Markt and 5 from Oude Markt (the famous Leuven square with 30+ cafes that students call 'the longest bar in the world'). It's an independent hostel run by a small team, not a chain. The building has a furnished garden terrace at the back, a small on-site bar pouring Stella from the source plus a few rotating Belgian taps, and a communal living room with a working cast-iron fireplace.
Rooms are basic but clean. Laminate floors, simple bunks in the dorms, towels and linens included. Most rooms have shared bathrooms on the floor; a few private rooms come with ensuites. Free WiFi reaches every floor, and the shared kitchen is fully equipped with stovetop, microwave, kettle, fridge, and proper kitchenware.
The move with this hostel is to use it as a base for the after-class Oude Markt circuit: it's the only hostel in the city centre, and you can stumble home in 4 minutes when the cafes close at 02:00. Bring a U-lock if you're bringing a bike — Leuven is the bike-theft capital of Belgium, and the train station racks are where most of them disappear from.
